The women’s draw for the 2025 US Open has been officially unveiled, setting the stage for two weeks of high-stakes tennis in Flushing Meadows, New York. The tournament, running from August 24 to September 7, is the final Grand Slam of the year—and it promises drama, intensity, and star-studded clashes.
Sabalenka Leads the Pack
Reigning champion Aryna Sabalenka returns to defend her title as the top seed and clear favorite. The World No. 1 headlines the top half of the draw and opens her campaign against Spain’s Rebeka Masarova. Sabalenka could encounter 2021 finalist Leylah Fernandez (31st seed) in the third round, followed by a potential fourth-round showdown with rising Danish star Clara Tauson (14th).
Italian Jasmine Paolini, seeded 7th and fresh off a strong run to the Cincinnati final, is the second-highest seed in this quarter. Her path to a deep run won’t be easy—former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova looms, and a potential third-round battle between Elena Rybakina and Emma Raducanu could produce a blockbuster fourth-round matchup.
Second Quarter: Pegula and Andreeva Face Tricky Roads
American No. 1 and 2024 finalist Jessica Pegula (4th seed) carries the hopes of the home crowd. She’ll begin against Egypt’s Mayar Sherif and could meet Dayana Yastremska (30th) or veteran Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the third round. Possible fourth-round opponents include 17th seed Liudmila Samsonova and 16th seed Belinda Bencic.
On the other side of this quarter is Mirra Andreeva (5th), one of the tour’s brightest young stars. She faces a tough opener against Alycia Parks, while 10th seed Emma Navarro and 25th seed Jelena Ostapenko also lurk in this loaded section. A standout first-round clash features Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko (22nd) taking on two-time Grand Slam winner Barbora Krejcikova—one of the most anticipated openers of the tournament.
Third Quarter: Gauff Draws a Tough Road
2023 champion and 3rd seed Coco Gauff enters the draw seeking redemption after losing her No. 2 seed to Iga Swiatek. Gauff begins with a difficult test in Ajla Tomljanovic, with potential matches against Donna Vekic in round two, Magda Frech in the third, and a possible fourth-round clash with either Naomi Osaka (23rd) or Daria Kasatkina (15th).
The other standout in this quarter is 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys (6th). Keys starts her campaign against Renata Zarazua and could face veteran Petra Kvitova in the second round—Kvitova’s final Grand Slam appearance before retirement.
Elsewhere, 27th seed Marta Kostyuk takes on Katie Boulter in a compelling opening round, while wildcard Venus Williams, a seven-time major winner, faces a daunting first-round opponent in 11th seed Karolina Muchova, a 2024 semifinalist looking to defend crucial points.
Fourth Quarter: Swiatek’s Path to Redemption
Iga Swiatek (2nd seed) enters the final Slam of the season chasing her seventh Grand Slam title—and a potential return to the No. 1 ranking if she claims the trophy. Her draw appears favorable early on, with a first-round match against Emiliana Arango. She could meet 29th seed Anna Kalinskaya in the third round, followed by a fourth-round clash with either Diana Shnaider (20th) or 13th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova.
Amanda Anisimova (8th seed) is the top contender in the bottom half of this section. She opens against Kimberly Birrell and faces a challenging route that could include Sofia Kenin (26th), Elina Svitolina (12th), Danielle Collins, and Maria Sakkari—all before a possible quarterfinal showdown with Swiatek.
