Eberechi Eze, an offensive midfielder for Crystal Palace, has had injury problems at times this season, but he might be a key player for the team as they try to avoid relegation.
In the last match, the 25-year-old midfielder made a comeback to the starting lineup against Tottenham Hotspur, where he scored an incredible goal from a free kick.
Despite making just 14 starts in the league this year, he has already contributed an assist and six goals.
He has received high acclaim from Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson, who stated that he has a good chance of being included in the England squad for the Euro championships.
According to Merson’s article for Sportskeeda, Eze possesses a certain “X-factor” that makes him a valuable asset in a major battle.
Merson stated, “I think Eberechi Eze has a good chance of making it into Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euros. He’s one of Palace’s brightest players.”
“He possesses the X-factor, and winning a major tournament requires players like that.”
Is Eberechi Eze something Crystal Palace can cling onto?
<span;>Last summer, he was targeted by Premier League winners Manchester City, but they ultimately signed Matheus Nunes. They will still be interested in the guy, though, as his performances have captured their curiosity.
The Athletic claims that Palace is in a strong position to negotiate for Eze should a potential team want to buy him. Despite having a release clause in his contract, Eze is likely to fetch a substantial transfer fee from Palace given his deal’s expiration in 2027 at Selhurst Park.
It’s been said that he slows down the tempo despite his enormous potential, which Oliver Glasner would find objectionable. Since Glasner enjoys fast passes and explosive moves in high-intensity football, Eze could have to give up some of his style to work within the system.
The next Premier League matchup for Crystal Palace is against Luton Town, where they will want to get back to winning ways.
