Ange Postecoglou accepts responsibility for Tottenham’s “poor” performance against Chelsea.

Losses three in a row and no offensive threat
In his post-match press conference, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou retaliated angrily against the reporter, voicing his frustrations after the North Londoners’ most recent performance against Chelsea.

After Spurs’ defeats by Newcastle United and Arsenal prior to yesterday’s game, the Lilywhites have now lost three straight games due to another subpar performance. Spurs will now have extremely little chance of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League as they pursue fourth-place Aston Villa. Spurs are seven points behind Unai Emery’s team despite having a game remaining.

The fact that Mauricio Pochettino’s team only managed three shots on goal against Chelsea only served to exacerbate their dissatisfaction as Trevoh Chalobah and Nikolas Jackson’s strikes clinched the victory.

Ange Postecoglou accepts accountability and acknowledges that his strategies haven’t worked.

Tottenham has now lost two London derbies in a row, and Ange Postecoglou has acknowledged that he is to responsible for the team’s most recent failure. He is adamant that it should be his duty to make sure the team he represents has an impact—something his team did not accomplish against the West Londoners yesterday.

After the match, the Australian referee commented to Sky Sports:

“It’s not good enough, and that is my fault; I have to own up to that.”

It wasn’t even close to good enough, and I’m the manager who puts them out there. I have to examine myself in all of this and figure out how I can make a bigger difference, as I have stated.

“When we perform as well as we did in the first half, it’s clear that my message isn’t being understood; I need to address that.”

The former Celtic manager was subsequently questioned about his message to the team, but as Spurs’ chances of finishing in the Champions League started to fade, the 58-year-old retaliated sharply.

In response, Ange said,

“Come on, buddy, we weren’t very good. Do you want me to sit here and compile a list of our mistakes into a dossier?

There is still hope for Spurs because they have four games remaining. Anything may happen, so let’s be optimistic and work to close the season with a bang. Tottenham’s next game is at Anfield Stadium, and a win there would undoubtedly restore some of the team’s lost confidence.
