Michael Jordan reportedly still loves and respects Scottie Pippen, according to Toni Kukoc.
Although they were one of the best teams in NBA history together, things are definitely not going well between Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen these days. In recent years, Pippen has publicly criticised Jordan numerous times, and Toni Kukoc, a former teammate, discussed their relationship in an interview with Sport Klub.
“Three years ago he worked with the Bulls, he came at a few games,” Kukoc recalled. “The media operates in that manner, so I won’t delve too further into what transpired. It was a while before I saw him again.
“I’m sorry because of the problems in the relationship between him and Michael,” Kukoc said. “With regard to Michael, he continues to admire and appreciate him (Pippen) and frequently acknowledges him as the reason he achieved the great success he did.
“It is sad, it is tough for me to see him (Pippen) in this condition,” Kukoc said. “He occasionally modifies his beliefs regarding LeBron, Michael, and other individuals. Because Phil Jackson handed me a crucial shot—it’s not something—he labelled him a racist. I’m not sure. It’s not a Scottie from the team we played with. He passed the ball without any trouble at all.
“I always say Michael Jordan is the best, and Michael is the greatest of all time but if you play good and know how to play basketball, then Scottie is the best teammate that you can ever have,” Kukoc said.
The remark made by Kukoc that Jordan still likes and respects Pippen is interesting to me. Although that might not always be the case, I had assumed that the bridge had entirely burned down.
Once the documentary The Last Dance was released, the two former teammates’ friendship truly broke down. Pippen made it quite evident that he was not pleased with the way he was portrayed in it.
Since then, many criticisms have been levelled, the most prominent being Pippen’s declaration last year that Jordan was a terrible player. It was an astonishing remark, and I don’t think he truly thought what he was saying to be genuine.
Jordan is the GOAT, Pippen declared earlier this year. Kukoc said that he occasionally seems to shift his position. Though I am not very enthusiastic about it, I hope the day comes when Jordan and Pippen are on speaking terms once more.

Although Pippen has had disagreements with MJ, Kukoc has generally spoken well of him. Jordan was praised as the GOAT by Kukoc earlier this year.
“Jordan is the all-time great basketball player. He is unlike anything else in the world. Pippen is an excellent athlete. He worked very hard. I regret to see him in this position right now. The greatest “three-pointer” in history is most likely Steve Kerr. Kerr receives the ball when you have no one else to give it to, and he makes a 3-pointer. Saying anything about Rodman? When the other team didn’t perform well enough, he became enraged and rode that exercise bike to exhaust himself after the game.
“To win rings, even Jordan required a team, and that squad required a coach. Phil Jackson alone, in my opinion, could have collaborated with that group.”
