Just Now: Tottenham Eyes Marcus Edward.

The Football Team That’s Content Even After Losing… After two distinct stints at Tottenham, players like Gareth Bale, Teddy Sheringham, Jermain Defoe, and Jurgen Klinsmann are among those who could be returning to the team. In fact, Spurs are considering signing Marcus Edwards this summer, according to Football.London.

Edwards went through the Tottenham system, where he was first likened to Lionel Messi. Edwards is reportedly only worth £15 million, and as Spurs have a 35% sell-on clause for the player, they may try to complete a trade for even less money.

Undoubtedly, despite not quite living up to the Lionel Messi comparisons, the 25-year-old is a player with enormous potential. He has demonstrated his skills in Portugal, and Paris Maghoma, a former Tottenham academy teammate, has predicted that he will win the Ballon d’Or.

“Marcus probably tried to nutmeg Harry Kane and probably all of them. He probably got a lot of stick about it, but that’s the type of player he is, he plays with so much freedom and so much joy,” Maghoma said.

“Marcus is a miniature version of Messi, it was just known. He simply plays like him, just as Messi is similar to Maradona and Marcus is similar to Messi. To be honest, I think he might be among the greatest players England has ever produced. I know I may get flak for saying this, but I really believe he is the greatest player I have ever seen.

“There’s no saying he can’t be nominated for a Ballon d’Or if he keeps going, believes in himself, and surrounds himself with the right people.” This deal looks like a no-brainer in many ways—such a low fee for such a great player who helps Spurs with their homegrown quota. Edwards might be back wearing a Tottenham shirt very soon.
