Wrexham’s summer transfer activity has shown no signs of slowing down as the club continues to build a squad capable of competing in the Championship. The Red Dragons are making waves both on and off the pitch—and their latest move could be one of their most significant yet.
After a historic weekend win—their first in the second tier for 43 years—Wrexham are riding high. A 2-0 victory over Millwall saw summer signings Kieffer Moore and Lewis O’Brien get on the scoresheet, showcasing the immediate impact of the club’s new arrivals.
Backed by significant investment, Wrexham have emerged as one of the most attractive destinations in the Championship. That status appears to be growing, with the club now reportedly on the verge of another big addition—one that could see them beat out former Premier League sides to a highly rated international.
Wrexham Set to Land Issa Kaboré on Loan
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Wrexham are “closing in” on the signing of Issa Kaboré from Manchester City. The deal is expected to be a season-long loan, and it marks a potential coup for the club.
Kaboré, a dynamic young full-back, had also attracted strong interest from Ipswich Town and Leicester City—two clubs recently relegated from the Premier League. But it’s Wrexham who appear poised to win the race, in what would be a clear statement of intent.
A Proven Talent on the Rise
Since joining Manchester City in 2020, Kaboré has spent time developing through a series of loan spells. His most successful stint came in 2023 with Luton Town, where he played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League. His performances under Rob Edwards at Kenilworth Road were particularly well received.
Although his time at Werder Bremen and Benfica was less impactful, Kaboré remains highly regarded within Manchester City’s setup. Still only 24, the Burkina Faso international already boasts an impressive 49 senior caps and two goals for his country—highlighting both his talent and international pedigree.
A versatile player, Kaboré can operate as a traditional right-back or more advanced wing-back, making him a perfect fit for Phil Parkinson’s tactical flexibility at Wrexham.
