Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly showing strong interest in signing Bundesliga midfielder Can Uzun, one of Europe’s most highly rated young talents.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has enjoyed an impressive rise in Germany and is now attracting attention from several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United. According to SportsBoom, Uzun is being viewed as the next “golden boy” of European football after a series of standout performances.
Can Uzun valued at €80m
Uzun is currently valued at around €80 million (£70m), meaning any deal would require a significant financial commitment. Tottenham are believed to be assessing whether they are prepared to meet that asking price as they look to add more cutting-edge quality in the final third.
The Turkish international is a versatile attacker, capable of operating centrally as a number ten or drifting out wide. His blend of creativity, technical ability, and goal threat could make him an ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system.
Impressive season in Germany
Uzun has been a key performer for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, registering 12 goal contributions across all competitions. His form has not gone unnoticed, with the midfielder described as a “special” talent who has “captivated” rival managers — including Aston Villa boss Unai Emery.
Tottenham may face stiff competition for his signature, particularly from Villa, who are pushing for Champions League qualification. A top-four finish could strengthen the Midlands club’s appeal, although Spurs are traditionally seen as a more attractive long-term destination.
Long-term investment potential
While the price tag is steep, Uzun is widely regarded as a player with elite potential. With the right development and guidance, he could evolve into a future star capable of justifying the investment. His technical attributes and attacking intelligence suggest he has the tools to thrive at the highest level.
Both Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also keen to add more creativity in attacking areas, and Uzun is seen as a player who could immediately improve all three sides. Ultimately, the midfielder is likely to favour a club where he can compete for major honours on a regular basis.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are willing to make a decisive move, but interest in Can Uzun is clearly heating up as the summer transfer window approaches.
