A new twist: Manchester City must spend £100 million to sign Lucas Paqueta. To see

The German news source stated on April 10 on their website that Pep Guardiola is considering the Brazilian playmaker as a potential addition to his team for the 2024–2025 campaign.

Last summer, City made an attempt to recruit Paqueta, but they pulled out of the agreement when Paqueta was accused of betting, which is still pending. The 26-year-old has an £85 million release clause in his contract that goes into effect during the next transfer window, according to sources from last summer. Despite this, the player has been fully complying with the probe, and City is now once again interested in the player. However, SportBILDclaims that because his release clause is worth more than first thought, City will actually need to spend £100 million to get him out of the London Stadium.

They wrote, “It seems like a move to Man City in the summer is becoming more and more likely.”

It won’t be inexpensive, though, as you would likely need to give West Ham an alleged escape clause worth 100 million pounds, or 116 million euros.

West Ham should strive for at least £100 million if they have the ability to control the price at which Paqueta is sold.

In spite of his dismal start to the season and his injury-plagued absence from the club, the Brazilian is incredible and has become the team’s glue. Paqueta has every right to be in that discussion given the current market, where a number of players command prices of £100 million and more, and the Hammers are known for being harsh negotiators.

Teams learned about the protracted negotiations over Declan Rice last summer, when he finally signed with Arsenal. Should his contract have a release clause, they will not settle for anything less. Although Paqueta is eager to advance and compete at the greatest level, Tim Steidten and David Moyes—or whoever the manager is—must agree on a plan of action to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
