In an attempt to land a big long-term deal, Brandon Aiyuk is not visiting the San Francisco 49ers facility at the beginning of the offseason programme.
That does not imply that the 49ers do not think he will be a member of the team come football season. John Lynch, the general manager, is optimistic that a deal can be reached to keep Aiyuk in San Francisco for a number of further seasons.
Lynch stated on Monday, “I have expressed on several times our desire, and our intention is that he is here and a part of the Niners for the rest of his career.” “We are resolving that.”
Aiyuk wants a long-term contract that would pay him much more money given on his career production to date. He is scheduled to play on the fifth-year option, which is worth approximately $14.1 million, this season. Many of the best receivers have annual contracts worth $25 million or more.
The Niners have done a fantastic job of recognising their indigenous talent, giving megadeals to Nick Bosa, George Kittle, Fred Warner, and Deebo Samuel over the last four offseasons.
With Samuel missing the first few practices in 2022 and Bosa signing less than a week before the season opener in 2021, the final two of those deals were completed after training camp.
San Francisco needs to act quickly this time around because both players stated that their performance during those seasons was affected by the protracted contract issues.
Lynch remarked, “I think that is significant.” Due dates compel humans to do these things. However, I believe that you can always learn from experiences, and it would be foolish not to. I would like our firm to be organised. Those things ran their necessary course. Our track record of completing the guys we set out to complete makes me proud. However, I am standing there with everyone else. I certainly hope that occurs sooner.
If the Niners are willing to move Aiyuk, Lynch said he has heard from teams interested in acquiring him. Lynch described the conversation between the two sides as “excellent talks.”
However, Lynch only responded, “I would not anticipate that,” when asked whether he believed there was any chance Aiyuk was not on the club once the first round of the draft was over.
Last season, Aiyuk played a significant role in San Francisco’s offence thanks to his excellent rapport with quarterback Brock Purdy. Last season, Aiyuk recorded a career-high 1,375 yards from 75 receptions, seven touchdowns, and was named to the second team of the All-Pro team.
Aiyuk was drafted 25th overall in 2020 and has since excelled since Purdy took over as quarterback. In four seasons, he has 269 catches for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Purdy remarked, “What we have done has been quite cool.” “As I have mentioned previously, I am just grateful that I got to play with him, toss him the ball, and win games with him. It is been fantastic. However, this is the time of year when you obviously do not know. As players, we have no say over who gets signed or anything; that decision belongs to the front office.
