As rumours intensify and two Austrians are now connected, it appears that Crystal Palace is already planning for its summer transfer window.
Oliver Glasner will be hoping that his team at Selhurst Park makes some significant progress this summer.
Despite only taking over Crystal Palace a month ago, the Austrian manager has already announced his goals.
According to Graeme Bailey of HITC Football, Glasner has recommended a gifted Austrian combination for this summer.
Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl
are the two names that Glasner brought up in his recommendation that Dougie Freedman and Steve Parish investigate further.
Do you think we should sign these two? Let’s examine their main points now.
Matthias Seidl: who is he?
The first player that Glasner has proposed is 23-year-old Austrian international Seidl, an offensive midfielder.
In his 21 games this season for Rapid Vienna in the Austrian Bundesliga, Seidl has five goals and four assists. With three goals and an assist in four games at the OFB Cup, he has also shown promise.
He is an aggressive midfielder with the ability to play at number eight, making him a versatile talent who may give this Palace team an extra edge. This is exactly the kind of guy Glasner would want.
Siedl might be a direct rival of players like Naouirou Ahamada and a potential replacement for Will Hughes. However, it is unlikely that this will be a priority position in the end, therefore Glasner’s suggestion may be rejected for the time being.
Leopold Querfeld, the objective of Crystal Palace, is who?
Similar to Seidl, Querfeld is now a defender with Rapid Vienna and might be a great addition to Palace’s defensive lineup.
Querfeld, an Austria U21 international with 11 caps, has played 20 games this season as a regular for Vienna.
This is a move that makes a lot of sense, as Palace is presently compiling a shortlist of candidates to take Marc Guehi’s place. However, since Palace will likely be playing a three-man defensive, several centre-halves will probably be required.
Similar to Seidl, he would probably be an inexpensive option at centre-back, therefore Palace ought to consider this recommendation.
