Breaking: Pau Torres slammed after Aston Villa v Ipswich Town controversy…

Following his penalty appeals in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa and Ipswich Town at Portman Road, Noel Egan accused Pau Torres of “trying it on.”

The former FIFA official feels that the referee should have given the defence a talking to.

At the start of the first half at Portman Road, Torres tumbled down with his head still in the penalty box. But after a VAR inspection, it was decided not to impose a penalty. And according to Egan, who is only speaking to Villa News, the right choice was taken. Anywhere on the pitch in football, it occurs frequently, according to Egan.

That sounds like a meeting of the minds between two players. Since it’s a physical game, any touch between two players is not automatically considered a foul.

There was interaction. It was obviously not a penalty, though, since VAR was consulted. A scathing remark for the players concerned—it wasn’t even worthy of a booking.

“Torres’ teammates waved their arms a little after they noticed that he was still on the ground. Still, it’s obviously not a punishment. Torres was playing around a little, so I believe both players needed to talk to one other.

The contact on Torres was minor, as Egan stated. So it would have come as a shock to see Villa given a penalty. It was the perfect way to sum up a rather dismal afternoon for Unai Emery and his team, who lost out on the opportunity to lead the Premier League and saw one player in particular let his boss down.

And Emery will be without one key player for that clash.

As Villa Park gets ready to host Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 2, things don’t get any easier for Emery and his team.
