According to an odd transfer report, Tottenham Hotspur is hoping to sign a Manchester United player this summer.
Once again, it’s that time of year when rumours start flying about every other minute.
The majority of transfer rumours never come to pass, and as supporters, we know from the start that there is very little possibility that any of them will.
This week, there is a rumour circulating from Italy about Tottenham and Manchester United.
Startling rumours surface about Anthony Martial of Manchester United and Tottenham.
It is anticipated that both Tottenham and Manchester United will be involved in the summer transfer window.
This season, Spurs appear completely different under Ange Postecoglou. Their goal is to secure a spot in the Champions League for the upcoming season by placing fourth in the Premier League standings.
If they arrive, Tottenham will require reinforcements.
Similar to Spurs, Manchester United will attempt to add a few players this summer, but first they will need to let go of part of their present roster.
This summer, a number of players have been linked to leaving Old Trafford, with Anthony Martial being one player who is nearly set to go.
The Frenchman arrived at Manchester United in 2015 with a lot of hype, having paid £36 million (BBC). He was even predicted by some to follow in the footsteps of Thierry Henry.
Due to a variety of factors, Martial has fallen short of every expectation, and when his contract expires this summer, he will be leaving Manchester United on a free transfer.
TuttoSport (print edition, page 3, 16 April 2024) has disclosed that Tottenham is reportedly interested in signing Martial, which is a startling revelation given the previous information about Juventus’ interest in him.
Martial had previously piqued the eye of the Spurs. Even if Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino desired him years ago, it’s astonishing that the North Londoners are still considering him.
Martial, who will be free to sign for another team, is reportedly seeking pay of about £5.12 million (€6 million) per year.
The reasons this move won’t materialise are explained by Jamie O’Hara’s previous remarks on Martial.
Though anything can happen in the crazy game of football, we think it’s highly unlikely that Tottenham would sign Anthony Martial this summer.
Spurs are anticipated to bolster their attacking options this summer, as they currently have a number of excellent possibilities. Ange Postecoglou will be looking for someone with the correct mindset in addition to someone who matches his system.
That player isn’t Martial, that’s all. This season, the Frenchman’s total playing time in the Premier League is under 450 minutes. Over the years, he hasn’t been a good player at all for Manchester United, and his attitude has frequently come under scrutiny.
Jamie O’Hara, a commentator and admirer of Tottenham, originally wanted Martial to play for Tottenham, but after intensively observing him in 2021, he had second thoughts.
Even now, the former Spurs midfielder’s remarks are significant, and we believe they adequately explain Postecoglou’s decision to pass on signing Martial.
O’Hara remarked, “Martial was shocking, really bad performance from him,” following Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Southampton.
“He just plays with a strange attitude, as if it doesn’t matter if he plays well or not. He acts as though it doesn’t matter if he is talented or not. Although he is incredibly talented, he is far from being excellent enough. Lukaku and him are very different.
