Oklahoma wide receiver Deion Burks is currently facing a criminal misdemeanor charge in Cleveland County.
As reported by OU Insider’s Jesse Crittenden, Burks was arrested and taken to the Cleveland County Jail on June 1 for driving under the influence of alcohol, possessing an open container of alcohol, and speeding, as stated in the affidavit.
Burks is expected to play a huge role in the Sooners offense in 2024. He transferred to Oklahoma in December after grabbing 47 receptions and seven touchdowns at Purdue last season.
This is the second report of a Sooners player being arrested this week. While Burks’ arrest is related to a June 1st incident, on Wednesday, Makari Vickers was arrested by the OU Police Department.
Matt Blackwell of the Crimson Captain tweeted, Per a source, both Deion Burks and Makari Vickers have been with the team since their respective arrests as recently as this morning. These incidents are not expected to affect either player’s availability for the season, aside from whatever internal discipline is decided on.
